Use the piano roll in Garageband to program drums like you would in any other drum-grid type sequencer eg Drumbit, Ableton, Logic, Cubase etc CMD + K - show/hide the on-screen keyboard Hold down CMD to turn the mouse into the pencil tool to draw notes.
